Bill Murray auditions for NBC’s ‘Peter Pan’ musical … on David Letterman’s show

Late ShowAs a lifelong fan of Bill Murray’s, there are not that many occasions at all where his antics do not make us smile. One thing that always does? Getting an opportunity to watch him appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The eccentric actor is not a regular on many other talk shows, but every time that he graces this stage in New York, he finds a way to make it happen in stranger and stranger ways.

So what did these “ways” entail this time around with the show? Let’s just put it this way: We literally saw Murray fly as he made his way into the studio. Bill joked in the process that he was hoping to audition for NBC’s upcoming Peter Pan-themed musical, and this was his way of doing so. There was also a subtle dig in here at Carrie Underwood, which you really cannot be too surprised about at all.

Of course, the funniest part of this entire video to us is that if NBC actually had the opportunity to hire Bill for anything, they would probably fall over with both shock and adoration. He is the sort of actor who has epic stories written about him when it comes to how notoriously difficult he is to book for projects … and when it actually is pulled off, it is always a home run in at least some shape or form.

As for the real casting process for a “Peter Pan” musical, we’ve heard already that NBC is already looking at some various names. They are going to cast a man in the leading role, which is mostly only notable because many previous stage adaptations have put a woman in the leading role.

If Murray actually played Pan in the NBC musical, would you be more excited to watch? Share some of your thoughts below! Also, sign up now if you want to get even more TV updates from us via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
