‘Psych’ season 8: Timothy Omundson gets starring role in ABC pilot
Well, it may be time that this controversy(?) is blown wide open all over again regarding the future of “Psych.” First, it was Maggie Lawson who did a comedy in “Back in the Game,” which ran for several weeks before ultimately being canceled. Now, the latest news is that Lassiter himself in Timothy Omundson may have a new show to call his home.
The actor, who also recently appeared on “Supernatural,” is going to star in the ABC pilot “Galavant” as King Richard, a man in a fairy-tale-like realm who stole away the one true love of Prince Galavant (Joshua Sasse), the title character and the man we assume to be the hero of the show. This true love Madalena (Mallory Jansen) surprisingly figures out that she would rather be with the wealthy king than the not-so-wealthy prince, and that is our jumping-off point for the series.
As for what the potential long-term future is for “Galavant,” that all depends on what networks decide, given that this is a risky concept. Dan Fogelman has written the script for the pilot, and he wanted to see Omundson in this role from the moment that he first conceptualized it.
Now, let’s turn to “Psych” for a second. There are rumors that the show is done, and season 8 is the end. If so, let’s just hope that it does out with a celebration / some glorious pineapple sightings and other random jokes. We just wish that if it was the end, USA would just announce it so that we go could go out feeling all warn and nostalgic. As for Tim, we’re thrilled for him. He’s been great for many years and he deserves another chance to show off his talent.
