Super Bowl commercials: Watch Tom Hiddleston, Mark Strong go ‘evil’ for Jaguar
For this year’s big commercial at the Super Bowl (or the “big game,” as they call it to avoid having to pay tons of money), Jaguar has decided on a marketing idea that not even Don Draper thought of on the fifth season of “Mad Men”: Apparently, it is really cool to be a British supervillain.
In the video below, you can see the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Mark Strong, and Sir Ben Kingsley try to explain one of life’s many mysteries: Why in the world it is so easy for Brits to play villains, while so many others all fail miserably at it? Apparently, it has something to do with looking very dapper, having a “stiff upper lip,” and driving a cool car. Want to be evil? Well, apparently you need to get a good suit, a Jaguar, and be British. We imagine that for most of you, the first two of these are going to be significantly easier to do than the third.
Jaguar is just one of approximately a billion car companies who are going to try to do something to sell automobiles during the big game, given that you frequently see such folks as Chevrolet, Volkswagen, and Honda all come up with some good stuff. The celebrity endorsement is always a good route to go in, since it’s at least different than the standard commercial just features a car driving around some sort of beautiful track that is way cooler than anything that you are going to see in your day-to-day life.
What we are going to do throughout our coverage of the Super Bowl this season is pretty simple: We’re going to present as many of the commercials to you in advance, and then pop up later to grade them and talk about them during the game. If you follow this link, then you’ve got a great source for everything.
