‘Better Call Saul’ spoilers: Jonathan Banks joins Bob Odenkirk as series regular

Apparently, “Better Call Saul” is going to be more than just a spin-off all about Bob Odenkirk’s character of Saul Goodman.

According to a new report from Deadline, Jonathan Banks is going to not only appear on the AMC spin-off to “Breaking Bad,” which starts shooting this spring, but he will also going to be a series regular. This is the first official booking for any actor alongside Odenkirk for the show, which could be in some ways both a prequel and a sequel to the original Vince Gilligan series. (Gilligan will still executive-produce on the show, but Peter Gould will serve as the showrunner.)

What will be interesting here is seeing just how much Banks’ Mike is included on the show; you have to assume that he will have quite a big part in the past, but obviously, he died near the midway point of season 5. Therefore, there is much more of a limit here to how much of a story we are going to see from him in relation to Saul.

As for some of the other characters from the “Breaking Bad” universe we could see, we know that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are interested in making cameos, and we would assume that there are possibilities out there for Giancarlo Esposito (Gus) and Lavell Crawford (Huell) to return, if need be.

The one interesting part of this is seeing if Banks being a part of this show could keep him from being a part of “Community” again after his extensive arc this season. The good news? The two shows seem to not bleed over too much when it comes to schedules, so it is possible that he could at least do a few “Community” appearances if the show is renewed.
