‘Bates Motel’ season 2 spoilers: A&E presents official details on story ahead

“Bates Motel” will not technically start airing new episodes until Monday, March 3, but why not start to get a little bit excited now about just some of what A&E and the writers are going to be throwing at you. In the first season, they clearly started to figure out what sort of show they wanted to be, and how they would find a way to forge their own identity despite having the prestige of “Psycho” to live up.

Now, it is all about shocking the you-know-what out of you on a regular basis, and continuing to deliver on the awesome stuff that they have already presented to you. Anytime that you have a season so great that we’re willing to put it as our third-best of 2013, the bar is set pretty high for the future.

While we cannot give everything away about the story just yet, the official logline on season 2, via the folks at A&E themselves, should at least give you a general idea as to what is planned for all of White Pine Bay:

In season two of “Bates Motel,” executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”) dig deeper into the twisted world of the Bates family. Picking up from last season, Norman (Freddie Highmore) is fixating on Miss Watson’s death while Norma’s mysterious past starts to haunt the family with the introduction of her brother. Meanwhile, Norman’s brother Dylan, (Max Thieriot), gets more entrenched in the familial drug war that fuels White Pine Bay and finds himself right in the middle of the danger as Bradley (Nicola Peltz), who remains on the hunt to uncover her father’s killer, is driven to precarious extremes. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), is caught up on all fronts as everything in town escalates and Emma (Olivia Cooke) complicates her relationship with Norman as the duo explore new love interests, bringing new and old characters along for the ride.

The guest star list for this season is a pretty enormous one, and it features the likes of Michael Vartan, Michael Eklund, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Kathleen Robertson (a different Robertson branch than the one on another A&E show), and Michael O’Neill.
