’24: Live Another Day’ lands premiere date, casts ‘Chuck’s’ Yvonne Strahovski
Have you been eagerly awaiting the return of Jack Bauer to TV? Then we come to you today with big news: Fox has just spilled the beans on when “24: Live Another Day” is going to be back on the air!
The revival of the long-running drama series, which will of course feature Jack Bauer trying to be as manly as humanly possible while saving the world, will launch with a two-hour episode on Monday, May 5. The following week, it will go down to its once-weekly format. The luxury for Fox is that it will never air at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time (the network doesn’t program that late), which means that its greatest competition will probably be only May sweeps on other networks coupled eventually with “The Bachelorette” on ABC.
As for some other news, “Chuck” and “Dexter” alum Yvonne Strahovski has also been cast to play the role of Kate Morgan, a field operative out of London for the CIA who is very intelligent, but also tends to make quick decisions that may or may not be the best ones for her to make. She will appear in multiple episodes, and will be one of many additions to a show that also includes Kim Raver of “Grey’s Anatomy” / “Revolution” fame. This is a return to form in some ways for Strahovski, whose most-popular role was Agent Sarah Walker on the long-running NBC show “Chuck” (a personal favorite on this end).
As for some other premiere dates, Fox confirmed that their Chris Meloni comedy “Surviving Jack” is going to air on Thursday, March 27 at 8:30 p.m., following the (hooray!) half-hour “American Idol” results show. Also, the new drama “Gang Related” is going to bow on Tuesday, May 20, following the first part of the “American Idol” season finale.
We’ll have a whole lot more to talk about on “24” as we get closer to another one of Jack Bauer’s “worst days ever” coming on the air.
