‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: Will we be off to see the Wizard?

At this point in time, you may be familiar with the news that “Once Upon a Time” is bringing in the Wicked Witch of the West for the second half of season 3. But, at the same time, this does not really serve as a great answer to another pressing question: Are we going to be making a great transition into the great world of Oz? Once you get to know the character, it’s of course pretty understandable that you are also going to want to see the world that Rebecca Mader’s witch comes from.

Well, it does look more and more now like a dive into the world of Oz could in fact happen moving forward. According to a new report from E! News, the show is at one point actually going to be heading to Oz. The only major question that comes with that is how this world will really be presented and explored.

One little important detail to note here is that you really run into complications if you try to base this Oz at all around the work of any of the movies or Broadway plays. (Don’t expect Mader to start performing anything from “Wicked” in the near future.) The show is instead going to be basing this more around the classic book that started it all, which is something pretty similar to how they conceived much of the world of Neverland (though they also had a Disney film to go off on as inspiration). This is one of the complications of having a show that is so often geared around most fairy-tales: You run into all sorts of problems when you try to figure out the best way to translate those fairy-tales over to the small screen when there are rights and other issues at play.

If the show does head to Oz, what characters in particular would you be the most interested to meet? Share some of your thoughts with a comment below!
