‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: The aftermath of what happened to Barry Allen
Barry Allen is definitely in an interesting place on “Arrow” … mostly in that the character is now more or less on his way to becoming The Flash. The show tied his entire origin story to returning home to Central City, and really did a good job of informing us of the particle accelerator even before Barry showed up. It was a subtle, but effective, hint at what was going to be coming next.
But are you going to see more of Barry on the flagship show itself? That seems doubtful, given that the producers are putting more of their attention now on the pilot for his new show. But, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told TVLine that you are still going to feel the ramifications of what happened to Barry, and his story will not be forgotten on “Arrow” the rest of the way:
“What happened in Central City at the end of [the fall finale] was certainly big news … Right now, we’re focusing hard on writing the Flash pilot and breaking the rest of the season of Arrow. But hopefully there will be some synchronicity between the two [shows], in anticipation of getting to see more of Grant [Gustin] and The Flash.”
To us, we foresee that the biggest impact that Barry has on “Arrow” moving forward is establishing that Oliver does have feelings for Felicity that he will need to eventually address, and he didn’t like the sight of seeing her getting attention from another guy. It’s certainly telling that when the montage with Slade at the end of the episode played out, Felicity, and not Laurel, was shown while Manu Bennett’s character mentioned taking away people Oliver cared about from him. Of course, if “The Flash” gets picked up to series, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Gustin again on the show in his superhero form.
There may not be that much happening right now in the world of “Arrow,” but if you click here, you can take a look at our full Midseason Report Card for the show.
