‘The Biggest Loser’: Ruben Studdard announces new album day before return
Ruben Studdard obviously has some more talents that go beyond just singing and determination; he’s also got a mind to market himself well.
One day before the former “American Idol” star returns to “The Biggest Loser” for the all-new episode airing on Tuesday night, the man otherwise known as the Velvet Teddy Bear announced that he is releasing a new album of mostly standards entitled “Unconditional Love” on Verve Records on February 4. Not only that, but there is an original song co-written by David Foster, entitled “Meant To Be,” that will be available on iTunes tomorrow. This coincides perfectly with the return of Ruben to the weight-loss competition, which allows him to best promote his career while also showing some of his personal growth.
In speaking in this statement about what this album is set to contain, Ruben had the following to say:
“Unconditional Love is my most romantic album yet. I’ve wanted to record many of these love songs for a really long time. It’s the most heartfeltalbum I’ve ever recorded and includes many of my favorite songs from all different eras.”
Meanwhile, Foster also praised Ruben extensively on his vocal range, and the experience working with him on this particular track:
“Silky, classy, sexy, romantic–bring you to your knees–this is how I describe the incredible voice of Ruben Studdard. He feels every note and every word he sings. He is a man with an extraordinary voice.”
It’s understandable to raise an eyebrow at “The Biggest Loser” producer for their sudden decision to bring Ruben back this week, given that he was already eliminated; however, it’s hard to really blame the guy for trying to make the best out of what could have been an otherwise difficult situation to handle. He’s really just trying to get everything out of this that he can, and Ruben really needs the show in some ways to provide a career boost. He has been out of the spotlight mostly for years, and this allows him to have another shot at getting back on the charts.
