‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: More details on ‘House of Lies,’ ‘The Wire’ stars’ appearance
“Criminal Minds” is a show that has always done pretty well for itself when it comes to securing guest talent, and they have done so yet again for an upcoming season 9 episode entitled “Strange Fruit.” This one airs on Wednesday, November 20, and since it is the last one before families start to really travel for Thanksgiving, it better leave viewers with an interesting episode that will have people talking. We at least know that it has a story that is rooted in some controversy … albeit one that goes back plenty of years.
Before we do anything else when it comes to discussing this episode, let us begin just by sharing the official synopsis for it. While we often choose to leave off the guest cast when discussing such a thing, we figure that it merits a little bit of a look this time around thanks to the incredible assortment of people in it:
“When skeletons are found [at] a Virginia home, the BAU centers its investigation on the family living there, unearthing family secrets rooted in the past divisions in the South, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Nov. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Esai Morales returns as the BAU’s Section Chief Mateo Cruz. Guest stars include L. Scott Caldwell (“Lost”), Emmy Award winner Glynn Turman (“In Treatment,” “House of Lies”) and Seth Gilliam (“The Wire”) as Tina, Charles and Lyle Johnson, respectively, the family who owns the house the BAU is investigating.”
The reason that this episode may appear to be more so than some others is that we may have a story told to us more via history, and that could mean a little less of the extreme shock that the show has been bringing out lately. A smaller, more powerful story is what we are hoping for, along with some good character work now that Cruz is back on the scene. (We’re still waiting on the backstory for him and JJ.)
