ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 6 review: Are Nolan and Patrick over? Plus, Victoria and gold

Take a look -

Revenge” made a promise this season to cut out some of the extraneous stuff and get back to the story, and on Sunday’s episode, they held to that promise better perhaps than they have all season long. This episode was a real reminder that rather than just pieces in Emily Thorne’s puzzle, these characters are all human beings who are not idiots, and have their own desires to go along with what our leading lady wants from them.

There really was not that much about the wedding planning tonight, and we personally did not mind that much at all. As for the reason why, let’s put it this way: Nolan decided that he needed to find his own way in order to get rid of Patrick, and Jack ended up lending a helping hand.

The end result of this plan was one that ensured that Conrad found out about Patrick and the car accident, which helps ensure that Patrick stays a while. To think that this is the only shocker for this episode would be stupid, since there was also another big reveal in the process: Thanks to Aiden, Victoria now knows about a secret stash of gold, which changes her priorities quite a bit when it comes to the couple’s marriage. No longer is Victoria so eager to bail; instead, she is now prepared to be in this for the long haul, or at least long enough to get what she wants.

Just in case that was not enough, let’s save the biggest shocker for now: Emily deciding that she was going to tell both Jack and Nolan everything about her plan, including her intention to have Victoria Grayson arrested for her murder. Does this mean that the entire wedding is a set-up? Definitely, but the tricky part of the plan is that in order for this to work, Emily may need to actually be shot, and then convince everyone that she is dead.

These reveals made tonight’s “Revenge” one worth watching more than once. It was fast-paced, stuffed full of shockers, and even Daniel’s story of redemption with an ex was worth watching. If only every episode had this sort of focus. Grade: A-.
