‘Survivor: Blood vs. Water’ preview: Tyson Apostol debates dethroning ‘King Aras’ (video)
Is Aras Baskauskas really in trouble on Wednesday’s “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” episode? The irony here is that just two weeks ago, we genuinely thought that he was in control of just about everything in the game. He’s a smart, savvy guy who also happens to be athletic and likable. If you can constantly keep the target on someone else, it is a pretty good way to stick around in “Survivor” for a very long time.
Unfortunately for Aras, there are two major threats to his game. The first, surprisingly, is his own brother Vytas. Having this sort of guy still in the game is big trouble, since the assumption is that the merge will happen, the two are going to get the opportunity to work together, and if one of them wins immunity and another finds an idol, that is an enormous amount of trouble. The second threat here is a little bit easier to define, and that is Tyson. He’s worried about being expendable down the road, and thinking that he may not have much of an opportunity to get rid of Aras later, this may be the time in which to take him out.
The sneak peek video below is all about Tyson explaining what is a pretty sound strategy. He’s not saying to throw a challenge by any means, but be cognizant of who are some of the other power players still in the game. If Aras was the only other physical player in the game, we would proclaim this to be a pretty horrible move. However, there’s also Vytas and Hayden Moss floating around. So long as those two guys are in competition, Tyson doesn’t necessarily stick out like a sore thumb thanks to that injury. Plus, his alliance with Gervase reminds us a ton of another bond that happened during Tyson’s first time on the show in “Survivor: Tocantins” between Stephen Fishbach and JT Thomas. There’s a ton of time for the Coconut Bandits to mess this up, but at least for the time being, the two are looking really good and without anyone actually targeting them.
