‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6, episode 7 spoilers: Is Walton Goggins’ Venus Van Dam returning?
This week on “Sons of Anarchy,” there was quite the welcome surprise in the form of Walton Goggins, who reprises his already-iconic role of Venus Van Dam. It was one of those things where you have to applaud Kurt Sutter and the entire crew for keeping it a secret; even though they said occasionally that they would love to have Venus back at some point in the future, they never actually specified that it was going to happen for sure.
Well, we now know that this gig was not just a one-time appearance for Goggins this year. As you can clearly see in the attached photo for next week’s “Sweet and Vaded,” Goggins is going to be back once again for his take-no prisoners role. Does anyone else want to know already what in the world Venus and Gemma are talking about? Kate Sagal looks so concerned in this picture, while Goggins is sporting a mixture between confusion and rage on his face.
One of the unfortunate things about the TV business is that you can make a few assumptions, and while we would love to see Venus around the rest of the season if the story dictated it, sooner or later Walton is going to have to go back to his full-time job in “Justified,” and he can’t be in two places at the same time. It must make it a little bit easier that he does at least have a role on another FX show (makes it easier for scheduling), and that he and Sutter go back to their days of doing “The Shield” together.
So when it comes to Venus, let’s just enjoy her on the show for as long as we can, shall we? We’re sure to have some great entertainment, and following the awesome “Salvage” this week, the show may have an opportunity to get itself back on a roll.
