ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 1 preview: Stana Katic front and center in ‘Valkyrie’
Before you tune in to tonight’s “Castle” season 6 premiere, we thought it best to share a few more last-minute pieces of scoop all about the episode, which carries with it the title of “Valkyrie.”
We’ve seen the episode, and without giving too much away, let’s just confirm the following: If you love the show, you’re going to find quite a bit to like in here. For one, this is more than just a standard case-of-the-week involving a criminal that gets arrested at the end; it is the part of a larger story, and if you’re jaw is not on the floor by the time the hour is over, you were probably not that invested to begin with. In the age of spoilers, it’s amazing that this twist has somehow remained under wraps and we intend to keep it that way for those still planning to tune in tonight.
Perhaps more so than even Castle, this episode is a showcase of Stana Katic’s Beckett as she is forced to fight between her job and her relationship perhaps more than ever. She handles it well, and her scenes with Lisa Edelstein’s agent McCord are strong. You have probably already seen via some released sneak peeks that Beckett is referred to as a “federal agent,” which you can take to mean that she at least takes the job on an interim basis. What we were confused about while watching it why they are just called “federal agents” rather than being part of the FBI or just some other organization. Maybe this is really the way it works, but we found it personally to be rather jarring to sit there and listen to.
Away from the Beckett story, the one other thing that we’ll tease here (since we’re keeping the proposal scene under wraps) is the interaction between Ryan and Esposito, which is done in a pretty innovative way. At least one series regular does not turn up this week, but don’t take that as any sort of harbinger of things to come.
Now, want to see some videos? Then just click on your favorite one below.
1. One such example of Ryan / Esposito’s involvement in the case.
2. The scene we mentioned earlier where Beckett calls herself a “federal agent.”
3. The opening of the all-popular “swing scene” that has so many excited.
4. Castle meeting Alexis’ new boyfriend Pi, who has him rather unnerved almost right away.

The whole ‘Thing’ about ‘Castle’ has been the ‘Will they-Won’t they’, £164,000-Dollar question – LBH, everything else has just been ‘Side-Dressing’. To be fair to the writers, they have done a superb job right up until ‘Season 6 – Valkyrie’ – it starts 2 MONTHS LATER ????. Having not seen further than this episode ( thanks to staying in Scotland – you know, Scotland- the country that John Logie Baird, the inventor of the TV, hails from – I am prevented from seeing further episodes thanks to money-grabbing, accountant-type lawyers for whom MONEY COMES FIRST !!!!), I could be wrong – BUT- Are we not allowed to see the reactions of the ‘Family’ that Castle has accrued along the way of this geat series – namely ‘Laney’, ‘Esposito’, ‘Ryan’ …… FFS – even ‘GATES (And even Perlmutter) – to the news that Kate Beckett and Rick Castle are to be married ???.

I’m sure many Casket fans are thrilled with Beckett’s decision but for some reason I find that after the first episode of season 6, for me the jury is still out. Not that it wasn’t good but how the first and second episodes are to determine the direction of their relationship. If that’s the case then they will be separated to much to make it work and we’ve been told that we will be seeing much less of the two of them this season. If that’s the case, then for me, “I’m Done”. Beckett’s new partner and the two new agents distort the shows chemistry. That’s just me, but I hope the show has great success.
