‘White Collar’ season 5: Matt Bomer stays classy over ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ revolt
When you consider just how cool and professional Matt Bomer is, did you really think that there was any other answer that he would give to the “50 Shades of Grey” hysteria than a classy one? Fans have made it clear that they wanted him to be cast in the Christian Grey role, and while it is still not exactly clear just how badly he really wanted the part (or if he even did), he has nothing but nice things to say about Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, who ended up landing the leading roles.
Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight” in the context of a massive petition to recast the movie with himself and Alexis Biedel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, he did his best to quiet that down by saying that he is excited to see what the actual actors in the project are going to end up doing with the part:
“I’m so grateful for the fans and touched. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota.”
Many of the other TV stars attached to the role via rumors included Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries” and Emilia Clarke of “Game of Thrones.” While “Arrow” star Stephen Amell said that he talked with producers about the possibility, he was not interested after reading the books.
For those of you “White Collar” fans (count us in that group), Bomer also briefly discussed what is going to be the story for the Neal Caffrey character moving forward this year:
“We’re definitely embracing more of a bad boy version of Neal this year. Neal’s starting to realize that he doesn’t have to be a good boy all the time and that maybe not doing the right thing is what he’s best at.”
