‘American Horror Story: Coven’: Check out the creepy, twisted new poster

You know that Ryan Murphy is going to have some bizarre things up his sleeve for the next season of “American Horror Story,” but did you have any sort of expectation that you would see something like this as the first poster for the show? We sure didn’t.

Basically, this image is completely creepy to the highest degree. Is there an analogy between a group of women and a serpent? Maybe, or the code here is that these particular women have venom coming out of their mouths. Given that witchcraft is the theme of the season, and that so many of the actors in the cast this year can play evil at the drop of a hat, it is not exactly easy to figure out just where the story is going to end up going come the show’s October 9 premiere.

For now, all we can say about the season is this: The story revolves around a group of witches whose kind is starting to go die out, and some of the steps in which they take to preserve themselves. It will at times be a lighter season than what we had last year with “Asylum,” but still expect there to be plenty of scares. Plus, with a cast that includes winners of various awards shows across the board, expect there to also be performances that blow your mind.
