‘The Newsroom’ season 2, episode 2 preview: The latest story breaks

The NewsroomDoes anyone out there remember the story of Anwar al-Awlaki? If so, you will be fairly interested in seeing how this is one of the stories handled on the new edition of “The Newsroom” airing on HBO Sunday night.

When it comes to showcasing subjects that are particularly well-known to all viewers, this tale of an American citizen who was also considered a deadly terrorist may feel somewhat new. We just wish that the preview clip below from the episode gave us something a little bit more substantial to go on. Instead, all we really have here is a story being presented to Will McAvoy, debated, and then the clip fades away.

At this very moment, we also do not have any idea just how much this clip blends into anything else that you are going to be seeing on the show, especially when you consider what some of the contents for Sunday’s episode are supposed to contain. If you remember, one key subject of conversation is likely going to be the continued buildup of the Genoa scandal, the fictional story brought about that could end up ultimately crippling ACN and throwing them into some seriously nasty legal territory. There is also another key issue here in Jim, the best member of the reporting team who decided to take a break away to cover to the Mitt Romney campaign, only because he didn’t want to be around the woman in Maggie who he loves, but seemingly cannot have.

What do you think about the idea for this al-Awlaki story being covered, and do you wish that we had something more revealed to us here that was a little bit more substantial? If you want to also view a sneak peek for tomorrow night’s episode focusing more so on Jim and Maggie, just be sure to visit the link here.
