‘Burn Notice’ season 7, episode 5 review: Is there too much separation?
Five episodes in now to the final season of “Burn Notice,” and we are left with a somewhat curious feeling. Do we enjoy what USA is bringing to us, or are there some substantial changes that need to be made in order to get the show back on track?
The answer here falls somewhere in between. From the standpoint of action, it’s always nice to see Michael Westen take on the enemies, and adding Sonya to the mix the past couple of installments has been exciting. However, the one issue that leaving Jeffrey Donovan’s character in the Caribbean is that so much of our enjoyment of the character is tied to Miami and Fiona. While they are still involved, it’s not so much in a direct manner. And, given that this is the show’s final season, we want to see some progress made in their relationship before the final curtain is dropped.
The episode did end on a nice cliffhanger when it comes to Sonya, and hopefully this will lead to the action / excitement being taken up another notch yet again next week. Perhaps one of the primary issues that we have right now is merely that last season on “Burn Notice,” we had a pretty tremendous year culminating with the death of Nate. We’re not seeing any of that yet, and we’re not digging Michael being away just as much as we did Fiona’s super-inventive prison storyline.
Overall, what did you think about “Burn Notice” this week, and are you enjoying this season? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! If you do want to check out some more of the latest news related to the “Burn Notice” world, just be sure to hit up the link here.

I believe that they are going to do something lame like get Fiona and Michael back together in the last episode. I am hating this last season and I’m very disappointed with the writers.

I believe that Fi and Michael will get back together because that man she is dating is using her and michael finds out and tries to protect FI it all comes together in the end you’ll see Michael will be out of the CIA but still will work with Sam and Jesse.

Going great so far! Michael Weston is doing just fine without Fi and Miami – Fi is the only one suffering, but that should change now that she’s been blackmailed into getting involved.

Your article nailed exactly what I have been thinking about this season – too much separation and too many new characters. Essentially, there has been too little Fi, too little team and too little Miami! Unfortunately, it looks like this Sonya is going to be around for quite a few episodes and potentially playing a huge role in our team dynamics. I just want to see Michael, Fiona, Sam, and Jessie (and only them) working together on the same endeavor! Alas, I am not sure how much of that we will get to see this season, which is a shame. After five episodes, we have still not had a single scene where all four members of the team have interacted.
