The Boys season 5 spoilers: Just how timely is the story?

Given that the fifth and final season of The Boys is coming to Prime Video in a matter of days, what better time is there to dive into the story?
There are at this point so many different things that we associate with the show but one of the biggest ones is rather simple: How topical it is to real-life events. That has long been the case for the show, but we imagine that there are some significant challenges that pop up here and there. After all, what do you do when the truth is stranger than fiction? Is there any real way in order to handle that?

Well one problem entering the fifth season is that the truth unfolded after some of the fiction was written — at least according to what creator Eric Kripke had to say to TV Guide:
“I’m totally bummed out to say we wrote it before the election … It sounds super naive now, but I swear the plan was, ‘Let’s write a 1984 version of what creeping authoritarianism looks like in America,’ and maybe everyone will be like, ‘Whew, we really dodged a bullet.’ But instead, we got hit with the bullet … And a lot of things that were far-fetched for us, we’re like — ‘That’s crazy!’ — have come to pass in a way that’s really really f—–g troubling.”
Ultimately, if there are any events in season 5 that seem to be based on what’s happened in the last 18 months, the only thing that we can say is that they are coincidental. Also, a big part of the show is meant to be satire. We’re invested in the characters for sure, but it is also important to keep that in mind.
