Survivor 50 episode 7: Could this really be Ozzy’s season to win?

Going into Survivor 50, there is not a single universe where we expected that Ozzy Lusth would be a possible winner contender — and why would we?

After all, consider the fact that in the past, he had a pretty particular playbook: He’d win challenges, provide for the tribe, but then either make questionable strategic moves or rub some people the wrong way. This season, he has still done a little of that, including his reaction to Mike White being voted out. However, we have also seen him try to build some inroads after the fact but most importantly, he has a core alliance he has stayed loyal to with Cirie. He also used some wherewithal to realize that Rizo was a smart person to take to Exile Island, an unknown he could get to know and try to work with more down the road.

In past seasons, Ozzy was the obvious person to take out after the merge … but is he here? Not necessarily. After all, remember that there are so many big threats in the game at this point. Jonathan may be viewed as the primary challenge beast now that Ozzy is a little older and he’s lost so many team challenges this season. Meanwhile, Dee is a former winner and Cirie is one of the best players of all time. He actually has some real insulation moving forward.

If there is one thing that Ozzy does need to figure out moving forward, though, it is how to be the primary driver of some strategic moves. If he can orchestrate some revenge on Christian and take credit for it, that’s a start. The same goes if he can also dismantle the alliance that Coach and Stephenie are still a part of in some way. Ozzy’s final salvo would need to be cutting Cirie before the final three, since she would beat him and/or anyone at that point in the game.
