There is absolutely a lot that we can say at present, but we must begin by sharing some of the bad news: There is not too much left of the medical drama this season. Also, we are going to be waiting a while for it! Remember when the series did 22-episode arcs? That is a thing for the past now as we only have 18 to work with here. According to the Futon Critic, the plan is for the show to return come April 30.

If there is one thing that we find especially unusual here, it is the simple fact that we’re going to see the final two episodes of the season, almost as an island separate from everything else. We know that the network likely wanted to get closer to the all-important May sweeps ratings period, but still.

Because the series is so far away from coming back, unfortunately there is not too much more information out there about what is to come. So what do we know at present? A few different things. For starters, there is more to come for Ellen Pompeo as Meredith, and you do not have to worry about that. On the flip side, however, we are getting near the end of the road for Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd as series regulars. While it does seem as though they will be written out of the story in a way that offers up hope for their future, it may still be bittersweet for some people who have been watching here for a rather long time.
