Is Takehiro Hira leaving Monarch: Legacy of Monsters? Is Hiroshi dead?

Following the events of tonight’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode, have we reached the end of the road for Takehiro Hira as Hiroshi? Is this character truly gone?

Well, let’s just start by taking a moment to briefly summarize the tragic, painful events at the end of the episode. Hiro saw Cate in front of Titan X and within that, his instinct kicked in — not exactly knowing what was truly transpiring. However, in the midst of this and then also the chaotic situation involving Apex and Monarch, we ended up watching him lose his life. Monarch was not there in time in order to save him.

Is he truly gone? Well, we know that this is a show in which Keiko found herself trapped in Hollow Earth for an endless period of time, and also one that has giant creatures wrecking havoc. Anything is possible but even if Hiro is dead in the present, there are still plenty of opportunities to see him in the past.

In its totality, though, it is easy to say that his legacy is more than a little bit complicated. We are talking here about someone who lived a secret double life for decades and hurt a lot of people — with his two children near the top of that list. Whether or not he was ever redeemed is up for those two to decide, and there is going to be an immense amount of pain that they have to deal with after the fact. This is without even mentioning Keiko, who missed the vast majority of his life.

Given the nature of this show, it is inevitable that there would be a loss of life. However, that does not make it any easier for the characters when it happens…
