The Bachelorette: Will canceled Taylor Frankie Paul season end franchise?

Given the recent cancellation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, it does feel like a significant question has to be answered regarding the future of the franchise overall. Have we actually reached the end of the line?
The first thing that we can note here is that this franchise has faced more controversy than almost every other reality show on record, whether it be a shutdown on Bachelor in Paradise, a significant hosting change with Chris Harrison’s exit, bonkers breakups, and let alone an entire show in UnREAL that tried to cast a light on supposed producer manipulation. Yet, the series managed to stick around through all of that, no matter how strange or difficult it was.

So where does all this bring us now? Well, to the possibility that the show could still return even if Taylor Frankie Paul’s season never sees the light of day. The producers could try to utilize some cast members in a different capacity, or simply plug along, hire a new lead, and hope audiences forgive them for all the promotion — including a special that aired after the Oscars just this past week!
However, here is what makes this cancellation different from every other: Money. As negative and controversial as other Bachelor Nation scandals were, the show was still able to air. Losing an entire season means a significant loss of revenue, and that means for ABC and Disney, they may have to think now in terms of future profitability. They also may have to pivot hard in terms of casting — if they want to get a known figure outside the franchise, why not someone like an athlete or an actress over a reality star? Viewers want drama, but we do legitimately believe they are also invested in a love story.
