Family Guy to get Stewie – preschool spin-off, but when?

For everyone out there who has been eager to get more of the Family Guy universe, you are now going to have it in the form of Stewie. After all, a new spin-off has been announced by Fox for the series, one that is slated to air during the 2027-28 TV season.

So what is the show going to be about? Well, according to Deadline, the story goes a little as follows:

[After] getting the boot from his old preschool, Stewie is forced to enroll in a new one that’s not exactly top-of-the-line. It’s attended by a handful of kids he doesn’t know, and a 75-year-old class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about every subject. Stewie’s miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtle is miserable… until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure.

We obviously think that there is potential for this show to be a fantastic part of the release calendar, though we may be stuck waiting for a while to get a lot more news on it.

In a statement, here is what voice actor and executive producer Seth MacFarlane had to say:

I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show.

This is, of course, a reference to how everyone thinks that MacFarlane is still responsible for the day-to-day creation of Family Guy, even though he is not. Executive producer Kirker Butler added the following:

I am honored and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in the history of television. I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he finally learns my name.

This is not the only spin-off to come from this universe, as The Cleveland Show did last for many years.
