Scrubs revival: EP hopeful on season 2 renewal

Is there a chance that we are going to hear more about a season 2 of the Scrubs revival sooner rather than later over at ABC?

So far, we do think that the executives at the network are more than a little bit thrilled with the show’s performance. The reviews have been positive and so far, the same can be said for the live ratings. Hulu has not released all of the streaming data as of yet, but we certainly think that it is performing well there, as well. Nostalgia is a huge reason for the show’s success but at the same time, we do also tend to think that the new show feels current and funny in its own right.

Just in case you needed more clarity that the producers want this to be more than a one-season thing, here is what executive producer Bill Lawrence had to say to Deadline:

We’re all crossing our fingers that they let us do a whole bunch more, but we’re really hopeful.

We do tend to think that a second season will also serve as a great opportunity in order to see more famous faces from the original show. Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison are clearly leading the way here, but there is a lot more coming with John C. McGinley as well as Judy Reyes. This feels like a playground that a lot of people will want to be a part of — and you better believe we are both happy and impressed that a lot of the new characters are as fun as they are. We don’t just feel like we’re eager to get back to the mainstays while watching them.
