Should you be shocked? Hardly. Remember that at the end of episode 2, we saw Shaw lead a plan to distract Titan X for the time being — saving a bunch of ships in the process. Yet, didn’t it just feel like a temporary solution to a serious long-term problem? The issue here is that we really do not know what the tentacled creature really wants. Are they just about killing — and if so, why didn’t they take out Lee and Keiko in the past? Didn’t they have a good opportunity to do that?

What does Cate have to feel guilty about? Well, remember that she could easily feel like the only reason that Titan X is even out there after she opted to go back into the rift to get Lee. Meanwhile, at the same time, the secret could very well be tied to the past and of course, we are looking here in the direction of Shaw and Keiko’s experience with the aforementioned monster. They clearly know more than anyone because of what they saw and heard but at the same time, just how much of that is going to be useful? Just consider this one of many different mysteries that we are interested in learning a little bit more about.
