The Beauty season 2: Is it renewed, canceled at FX?

Following the two-episode finale event tonight over at FX, is there a chance that The Beauty season 2 is going to happen? Or, have we reached the end of the line here already?

First and foremost, we really should have to say that if there is one kind of series that is especially volatile, it is a Ryan Murphy production at this network — and sometimes, this can be a good thing. Don’t you want to stay on your toes! A great example here is Grotesquerie, which was an incredible series but also one that is seemingly done … even if we wanted more. Meanwhile, All’s Fair got renewed for another season, despite it being lambasted by a number of TV critics out there.

Ultimately, we do not want to gauge the future of The Beauty here based on source material — like we said, Murphy shows are unpredictable. A lot will depend here on how exactly the show is performing, and that remains a mystery. Is it popular on Hulu? Is there buzz regarding something more? One thing that we will say here is that despite there being a number of big-name actors in the cast, the series has felt somewhat under the radar — or at least so much more than we ever expected going into the season.

Our general feeling is that we are going to learn one way or another over the next few months — but we could be waiting a while to see a season 2. After all, for the immediate future we tend to think that the top priority within the Murphy-verse is the next season of American Horror Story, as that has been planned for a rather long time already.
