The Bear season 5 will be final season; further confirmation

Weeks after the rumors first began that The Bear season 5 was going to be the final one on FX, we now have more confirmation on the subject — and thanks to the person who started the speculation in the first place.

Even though Jamie Lee Curtis has only appeared in a handful of episodes of the series as Carmy and Sugar’s mom, she has interesting become the primary source of news on this front. Take, for example today, some comments she made on the subject to Entertainment Tonight:

“It is the end of the show … Everybody knows it’s the end of the show. I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show — they’ve said it from the beginning.”

Even though this may be true internally, it had never been publicly admitted that the fifth season is the final one, though it does make a measure of sense. At this point, it feels like one of the central questions worth asking now is tied to whether or not we are going to see Carmy return to the kitchen. Jeremy Allen White’s character departed his own restaurant at the end of last season, hopefully to find a place that makes him a little bit happier. We would certainly like to see him back in the world of food, but the show may be striving (at least on some level) to create an endgame that makes a modicum of sense. As for whether or not we really get that, let’s just say that it remains to be seen.

Hopefully, we will get more official news on the future of The Bear over the next month or two. While it may not be as popular as it was a year or two again, we do view it as a defining show of this era.
