Scrubs revival episode 4 spoilers: JD and Turk’s poker night

As we move forward through the remainder of the Scrubs revival on ABC, one thing we are very-much aware of is simple: A desire to really mold the past and the present in some interesting ways.

For JD and Turk, some of that may be trying to further establish their friendship dynamic now that they are colleagues once more. They’ve always been friends, but things are different now with him stepping into Dr. Cox’s old role. He may do things here and there that Turk doesn’t like. Can they still be friendly and goofy in the off time? We hope so, but this is obviously a story that will look and feel occasionally different.

To relive their glory days, J.D. plans a poker night with Turk. Elsewhere, competition brews between the medical and surgical interns, while Elliot decides how to handle a social media-obsessed patient.

Is this going to be an episode where we better see how JD and Elliot are improving their relationship again? This is clearly one of those storylines that we could not see coming heading into the revival and as much as it bummed us out, it also made a lot of sense. It forces these characters to also be more adult, whether it be showing what they go through but how they figure out the right ways to co-parent and also manage their job.

Rest assured, though, that there will still be a lot of comedy and some of the trademark fantasies that you have seen on the show over the years — there is no real reason to think that any of this is going to be fading away soon.
