Outlander season 8: Is Lord John spin-off still possible?

It is clear to us and so many out there that the end of Outlander on Starz is almost here — but are there still spin-offs possible?

Well, first and foremost, this is the perfect time to remind everyone that a second season of the Blood of My Blood spin-off show has already filmed. Beyond that, nobody is closing the door entirely to other ideas, and that includes a possible spin-off on Lord John Grey. It has been discussed for literal years now but at the same time, we almost wonder if the success of the Game of Thrones show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms makes it more possible. There are parallels in that both are based on material from their authors that is at least marginally separate from the main story. The creative teams are not having to just run off and make something up completely separate from the source material.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine ahead of the season 8 premiere, executive producer Maril Davis indicated that she is very much still open to the idea:

“I’m just going to come out and say it … Yes. Listen, we’ve been thinking about this for a while, and we’d love to make it happen. And David [Berry] would love to do it. It’d be fun. Yes.”

Of course, a lot of this would really come down to whether or not Starz would want it, but we do feel like they remain supportive of many of their franchises. Remember for a moment here that they still have a ton of Power shows, and they also recently revitalized the Spartacus franchise after many years of it being gone. By virtue of all of that, it does feel like anything is possible.
