Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight on HBO? We know that the show has aired new installments over the past two weeks — but is the trend about to continue?

Well, without further ado, let’s just start by sharing good news — so good, in fact, that we can share it across two parts! First and foremost, the late-night host is going to be airing tonight; not only that, but he will roughly be around in his standard 11:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot. It has honestly been rather rare to see him arrive at his typically-allotted time, so we will certainly welcome that.

Of course, we do think there are some highly topical issues that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver could touch on tonight related to the Middle East. However, it remains to be seen how deep he will go given that the show does not air live and events are ever-changing.

On the flip side, we are sure that Oliver will have at least a few jokes lined up about Paramount Skydance being presumably prepared to buy up Warner Bros., meaning that the show could have a brand new “business daddy” as they have multiple times through the show’s 13-season run. We know that there are a lot of questions surrounding what the long-term future here could be, but we will have to wait and see what happens there. We do know that from a business perspective this show remains wildly successful, and we do think this has to matter a great deal. It is hard to imagine that the same arguments could be used here that were for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a series that is slated to conclude in May.
