The Bachelorette video: First look at Taylor Frankie Paul season

On March 22 the premiere of The Bachelorette is going to be here with Taylor Frankie Paul as the lead — so how is ABC setting the stage?

Well, if you head over to the link here, you can see the first preview that truly sets the stage for this season … and also opts to focus in on the controversy rather than look away from it. This is a very different season, given that the star of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is already pretty-well known; she’s also been associated with plenty of drama. Any person going on this show has to be prepared for all of that.

So while this promo is very much a spotlight on the leading lady (and the same goes for the key art above), we are still waiting to see and learn more when it comes to the actual men who are taking part in the season. That should come over the course of the next few weeks as we inch ever closer to it coming back on the air. We imagine that there are going to be some different locations this season than we’ve seen in the past, but it is hard to figure that a more-famous lead is fundamentally going to change the show.

What ABC is clearly banking on is the simple fact that drama and notoriety will drive people back to Bachelor Nation in the midst of some recent misfires. We did not mind some of the risks that were taken with Bachelor in Paradise, but they at least made sense on paper. This particular casting was polarizing from the moment it was announced, and we have a hard time thinking that this is going to change as it progresses. Here is how ABC is describing it:
