The Testaments premiere date, new details revealed at Hulu

If you have been excited to dive into the world of The Testaments at Hulu, the wait is officially close to being over!
Today, the folks at the streaming service revealed that on Wednesday, April 8, the first three episodes of the Margaret Atwood adaptation are going to premiere. Following that new episodes are going to launch weekly.

To go along with this big news, we also have via Hulu a synopsis that does a good job setting up what the story (which is set following the events of The Handmaid’s Tale) will be:
The Testaments is a coming of age story that finds a new generation of young women in Gilead grappling with the bleak future that awaits them. For these young women, growing up in Gilead is all they have ever known, having no tangible memories of the outside world prior to their indoctrination into this life. Facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude, they will be forced to search for allies, both new and old, to help in their fight for freedom and the life they deserve.
Thanks to having this news now we do tend to think that we are going to get some sort of official trailer over the next several weeks. One date that we would certainly look at right now is the Oscars in March, given that it airs on ABC and there is reason for cross-promotion there. Also, remember that The Testaments star Chase Infiniti was a part of one of the biggest movies of this past year in One Battle After Another.
Our hope here is definitely that this show is as powerful and culture-defining as the original The Handmaid’s Tale — but if it wasn’t obvious already, the bar is set high.
