The Amazing Race 39 confirmed at CBS; premiere date hopes

For everyone out there rooting for The Amazing Race 39 to arrive on CBS at some point, we are officially another step closer!
Today, the folks at the network did officially indicate that the Phil Keoghan-hosted reality competition show is going to be back for another chapter — and absolutely we are pretty thrilled with that! The irony in all of this is that it seems like filming has already happened for the season, making the renewal a foregone conclusion. Now the problem just becomes waiting to see when it is actually going to air.

From where we sit at present, the best-case scenario seems to be it launching alongside season 51 of Survivor this fall, mostly due to the fact that season 50 already has its own primetime companion for the upcoming months. There’s a chance that the Race could always be moved to a different night or time, but it is hard to gauge the logic in that given that it would take away the ability to do some of these 90-minute episodes that we have seen as of late.
As for what we hope to see next season…
For starters, get rid of the whole “European Adventure” gimmick since that made the Race feel far less grand. We want to see more struggles with language barriers, different challenges, and also tasks that really test more than just physical strength and speed. Beyond all of that, we’d love some people who we do not know at all — there were fun moments during the Big Brother season, but at the same there were constant reminders that preexisting relationships made it harder for people to turn on each other and be super-competitive when the moment struck.
Hopefully, some more details on the future of season 39 will be ironed out by the time we get around to May.
