Big Brother 27 star Mickey Lee dead at 35 after cardiac arrests

Some absolutely terrible news has arrived this morning concerning Big Brother 27 star Mickey Lee — she has died at the age of 35.

In a post on Instagram this morning, Lee’s family confirmed the news by saying the following:

“With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening.

“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”

Mickey was first hospitalized this month due to complications from the flu, which led to multiple cardiac arrests. She had received the support of much of the Big Brother community throughout her time in intensive care, and now many alumni are sharing their condolences as the news begins to spread. Take, for example, Rachel Reilly, who shared the following on the aforementioned Instagram post:

“Sorry for your loss and my prayers for your family RIP MICKEY you are missed – love to all of you … she will always be remembered and I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know her for the short period I did- she shared so much light with us and was such an amazing soul.”

The Big Brother fandom is unique in that contestants spend months at a time locked together in a small house, and are free of electronic devices and any / all distractions while they play the game. There are so few who ever know what that is truly like, and this is one of the reasons why so many stay super-close to one another after the fact.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Mickey’s family and all who loved her during this difficult time. This painful news is a reminder that life is so short, and we all have to do what we can to make the most of it in the time that we have.
