Is The Neighborhood new tonight on CBS? Given the events of this past episode, we would not blame anyone for wanting more. The long-running comedy serves as not just escapism, but also investment. You want the best for Calvin and the other characters and given that this is the final season, it does add a little more when it comes to stakes. There is only so long we are going to be able to see everyone before they ultimately are gone for good.

Now, we do have to present a shred of unfortunate news — while there is more of the sitcom coming, it will not be happening tonight. Season 8 episode 9 is currently set to air on Monday, February 23 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.

So why in the world are we stuck waiting that long? It makes sense to wonder, as typically The Neighborhood is not one of those shows that has a midseason hiatus longer than two months. However, there is a reason for it here, with it tied mostly to an array of sports. CBS clearly wants to avoid both the NFL and college football through a good chunk of January, but they also have the Winter Olympics to think about, as well. These two events do lead to a lot of viewers flocking elsewhere and even in 2025 / 2026, having a live audience for your shows is still incredibly important.

If there is a silver lining to the break, it is the sole fact that once the show is back, there should be fewer breaks over the remainder of the season. This means an opportunity to really immerse into the world of these characters and if we are lucky, also have a chance to see an ending that is funny and emotional at the same time.

More details regarding episode 9 will hopefully emerge either in late January or early February.
