House of the Dragon renewed for season 4 at HBO

For everyone out there who is eager to see more House of the Dragon over at HBO, let’s just say we’ve got great news!
Today, it was officially revealed by the network that the prequel series for Game of Thrones will be coming back for a fourth season. Not only that, but they reiterated that season 3 is going to be launching at some point next summer. While none of this comes as a major surprise, we are more than happy to have it confirmed! There is a good chance that season 4 ends up being the final season of the Fire & Blood adaptation, so we are doing our best to prepare for that in advance.

In a statement about both this renewal and that of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, here is what Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films had to say:
“We are thrilled to be able to deliver new seasons of these two series for the next three years, for the legion of fans of the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe. Together, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON and A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS reveal just how expansive and richly imagined George R. R. Martin’s universe continues to be. In January, I think audiences will be delighted by the inspiring underdog tale of Dunk and Egg that George and Ira Parker have captured so beautifully. And this summer, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is set to ignite once again with some of its most epic battles yet.”
Now, we are well-aware at least of the fact that season 3 is going to start off in a tremendously epic way with the Battle of the Gullet leading the charge. This is a moment that many expected to be at the end of season 2, leading to a lot of disappointment among the fandom. Can it still be worthy of the wait? We at least hope so…
