‘Veep’ season 2, episode 8 preview: First look at ‘First Response’
While you may not be talking about it, the past couple of episodes of “Veep” season 2 have been very strong. It’s almost a spitting image of the first season in many ways as the show starts off slow, then gets increasingly funny as time passes. By the time that you are hooked and can’t wait for more, it ends. Luckily, at least this current season is a little longer than what we had last year. Case in point? Tonight’s episode is not the finale.
There is not too much known yet about “First Response,” except that we are going to once again see Selina Meyer in a familiar position: Having to backpedal her way through a hilarious interview that goes very differently than she expects it to. To make matters worse this time, her entire family is at her side as it happens.
Check out the official synopsis for the half-hour below:
“After being prepped for a ‘puff piece’ interview at the VP residence, Selina is thrown by Janet Ryland’s ‘gotcha’ questions.”
We’re consistently amazed that Selina manages to keep her job despite all of the terrible / horrible things that she does, and who knows? Maybe this is the moment where she is finally broken to the point of no return. Personally, we doubt it since there’s nothing quite like political failure, and watching Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character skate by in spite of all of the horrible things that she has done is in part what makes this show so entertaining to begin with.
Although it’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve reviewed a new “Veep” episode, the plan is to dive in once again tonight, and for the remainder of the season. Want to read our most-recent review? If so, all you have to do is click here.
