2013 MMVAs: Phillip Phillips, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran to perform; Lucy Hale to present

Just in case you aren’t down with vampires and want to watch something other than the “True Blood” season 6 premiere on Sunday, June 16, MuchMusic is providing you with quite the alternative courtesy of this year’s MMVAs. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and will feature some of the biggest names in music coming up to Canada for a night of fun, craziness, and hopefully some good performances. (We’re personally a fan of the show’s “rolling up in limousines” entrance style.)

To go along with the air date, we have some news pertaining to the stars in attendance. Former “American Idol” champion Phillip Phillips, “The X Factor” judge Demi Lovato, Psy, Ed Sheeran, and Avril Lavigne are among some of the people who are going to do their best to rock out on the show’s stage. Meanwhile, the lineup of presenters for the time being includes “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale and “Glee’s” Naya Rivera (both parties have been working on recording albums). Some non-music people include Stephen Amell of “Arrow” and “The Big Bang Theory’s” Kunal Nayyar.

There is no host announced just yet, but the show likes to book someone like a Demi who is young and well-known about the show’s core audience. They also only make a few announcements, and share the duties with MuchMusic personalities throughout the night. Some other recent hosts for the show include the likes of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and the Jonas Brothers. (In other words, MuchMusic loves former Disney Channel stars!)
