‘True Blood’ season 6 spoilers: See Governor Burrell’s anti-vampire address (video)
Meet Governor Burrell. He runs the State of Louisiana. Also, he doesn’t like vampires very much.
Arliss Howard is one of the new additions to “True Blood” for season 6, and is definitely one of the people worth watching as a potential villain, even if he looks more like a countrified David Cross than someone you would actually need to fear. Burrell’s impact is felt more on an influence level, since he is going to begin a crusade earlier on this season to try to stop all vampires in their tracks.
So what’s his motivation? While it is not unveiled in the new promo below for the show, he feels a personal vendetta against all vamps after his wife basically abandoned him and his child in order to be with one of them. To him, that’s clearly enough of a reason to go in front of a crowd, announce that all vampire businesses are shut down (R.I.P. Fangtasia), and that humans should all purchase firearms and wooden bullets as a means to protecting their families.
Thanks to Burrell’s actions, season 6 will be more of a human vs vampire story than ever before, as the trials and tribulations from last year are only going to escalate. Jason Stackhouse is going to yet again finding himself believing in something questionable, and every vampire on the show is actually in danger of the true death. The tagline for this season, “no one lives forever,” seems especially applicable in this case. (It also makes us shudder in fear of losing someone we really care about.)
