‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: The meaning behind ‘Clip Show’
When fans of “Supernatural” first saw that the title for the penultimate episode of season 8 was “Clip Show,” there may have been a part of their brain wondering whether or not they were about to sit through a mountain of footage that has already been seen before. Luckily, there was probably also a part of their brain shouting at them that this is “Supernatural,” and any fan of the show likely knows by now that nothing on this series is as it seems. This is yet another clever title designed with the sole purpose of deceiving, and on this occasion, what we are specifically seeing is a plot connected to the trials that forces Sam to look back on his past. This is why Taylor Cole is returning as Sarah Blake, along with some other new faces.
In speaking on this particular subject, executive producer Jeremy Carver had the following to say to TVLine:
“The reappearance of old friends is somewhat related to the trials, and not in a very good way.”
Alluding to the title, Carver also joked that it is “an episode of nothing but flashback moments to our favorite hugs and kisses.” This is going to be an entertaining and dark hour, and it should set the stage rather nicely for a finale that will answer some questions, but also leave one heck of a cliffhanger that drives all of us insane for at least the 4-5 months that it takes for the series to come back on the air. (Remember, The CW didn’t start airing most of their fall schedule last year until October.)
