2013 MTV Movie Awards: ‘Parks and Recreation’s’ Aubrey Plaza makes her mark
What is it about MTV awards shows and celebrities rushing the stage? First, we saw it with the VMAs a few years ago, when Kanye West decided that Beyonce had one of the best music videos of all time. At the annual Movie Awards last night, it became largely about someone mostly famous thanks to their role in NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”: Aubrey Plaza.
We should start things off here first and foremost by saying that if Will Ferrell knew that he was going to be bombarded on stage by the actress, who tried to take the famous popcorn trophy away from him, he would have played it off as funnier. Instead, he seemed to be at first genuinely confused and then concerned for her, as there were questions about whether or not she had too much to drink.
Plaza was reportedly removed from the venue amicably after the incident, and we’re sure that there are questions about whether or not this event was staged by the network (as she was in the front row with easy access to the stage). We’re not sure that it was staged, but it was clearly planned by Plaza herself. After all, she had the name of her upcoming movie “The To-Do List” written across her collarbones, so this was clearly a move designed to get some unpaid promotion the for the project. Was it smart? We have to say definitely. No one would be talking about Plaza today otherwise, and it’s not like MTV is going to suddenly start banning her from attending events in the future. If the people want more Plaza, they have to give the people what they want.
What do you think about Aubrey’s surprise stage-crashing? You can check out Ferrell’s reaction after the fact below, and you can also read more about host Rebel Wilson’s performance here.
