‘The Newsroom’ season 2 spoilers: Who’s getting a new love interest?
While some of the critics of “The Newsroom” joked around that the first season was relationship-heavy enough to double as a soap opera, we admit that we actually rather enjoyed all of the various dynamics between all of the characters. You had the Jim / Maggie / Don love triangle, the constant shadow hovering over Will and Mackenzie, and the sparks that started to form between Sloan and Don near the end of the season.
So who is getting involved in the love games this season? It’s none other than the resident “News Night” blogger Neal, and no, he is not going to be getting involved with Bigfoot. According to E! News, the upcoming love interest for Dev Patel’s character is going to be a mtvU political journalist named Aubrey, who in the casting notice is described as being very smart and rather attractive. Basically, it’s an opportunity to see how the character functions a little bit more away from work, and if he can pull off the rare feat of balancing an impossible job with a relationship.
Ultimately, we’re just glad to see that someone can find love outside of the walls of this particular newsroom, and Neal may need the support considering everything that is coming up. One of the show’s major subjects for the new year is the Presidential election, which means that there will be around-the-clock coverage, and also plenty of political spin to sift through.
What do you think about Neal having a love interest, and are there any other characters that you want to see in some relationship drama moving forward? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can also read some more scoop on “The Newsroom’s” season 2 premiere over at this link.

Would MUCH prefer a Neal/Sloan(Sleal) pairing. They had plenty of chemistry, more than her and Don tbh. But it could be good seeing a fresh face outside the work dynamic. It’ll be interesting!
