‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: See Nina Dobrev kick butt, talk love scenes

Nina Dobrev made an appearance on “Conan” this week in order to promote the Thursday return of “The Vampire Diaries,” and what we ultimately ended getting out of this is rather simple: she is actually rather capable as an actress of doing far more than some some of the heavy drama (and romance) that we are accustomed to seeing from her as Elena on the CW series.

First things first, Nina did her part to show both to Conan and to the entire viewing audience that she is more than capable of being an action hero, at least if the situation calls for it. The first video below features her taking on Conan in a group of his “thugs” in what is a pretty standard bar setting, and it shows just what sort of combat training she goes through in order to play Elena Gilbert (who has gotten a chance to be a little bit more violent this season). It is certainly amped up here to the point of looking cartoonish, but you certainly still get the point.

As for the second video, let’s just say that it is a little bit more on the awkward side. Dobrev specifically talks about how her mother is actually rather keen at times to give her advice on her love scenes following her visits to the show’s set, which cannot be something that is particularly appreciated. This whole conversation is made even more bizarre by the fact that Zach Braff is sitting there listening to the whole conversation, and then at one point he opens up his shirt to reveal some sort of green unitard underneath.
