‘Justified’ season 4, episode 10 review: Who caught Drew Thompson?
On this week’s episode of “Justified” season 4, Thompson (Shelby) packs a bag and tells Ellen May that he can’t bring her with him, but after he drives away the responsibility he feels for Ellen May gets the better of him and her turns around to get her. They head to a small airstrip where he has a plane, unfortunately when they get there they notice Raylan and his crew are there waiting for him, so they keep on driving.
When Thompson and Ellen May realize that their air route and land routes are both blocked, Thompson considers the idea of them turning themselves in, but Ellen May comes up with an idea, that they will go to Limeshouse for protection. When they get to Limehouse’s property, he’s not exactly excited to see the Sheriff since he killed one of his cousin. Thompson asks Limehouse to keep Ellen May safe and then get her out of town and in return he will give Limehouse $15,000. Unfortunately for Thompson, Limehouse knows his true identity and decides to keep them both hostage for a bigger payday.
Raylan’s plan to keep Boyd Crowder under arrest until they find Thompson falls to pieces and now he’s worried that Boyd is going to call Theo and give up Thompson’s identity, but Boyd’s real priority is finding Ellen May to keep Ava safe. Even though Colton messed up on the Ellen May front, Boyd is giving him a chance to help make things right and Colton is happy for the opportunity (really this just tells us that Boyd is desperate and doesn’t have enough man power to find Ellen May). When Boyd leaves with Colton to push one of his contacts for information about Ellen May (and later finds out that often the girls went to Limehouse for help in the past), Johnny calls Wynn Duffy and tells him that Shelby is Thompson. Duffy tells Johnny that he is now responsible for finding Thompson or he will lose his dream of taking out Boyd.
Ava goes to Limehouse and she is reunited with Ellen May who runs up and hugs Ava much to her surprise. Ellen May tells Ava that she understands why she tried to have her killed, but hopes that Ava sees that all this time she’s still been alive and has kept her secret safe. Limehouse tells Ava that if she wants Ellen May and Thompson she’ll have to pay $150,000 each. Boyd tells Ava to do it, but she says it’ll wipe them clean – of course Boyd has a bigger plan. He in turn calls Theo’s men and says for the safe return of Thompson it’ll cost them $500,0000, but when Boyd goes to Limehouse to give the $300,000 for both Ellen May and Thompson he changes the deal saying that the $300,000 will only buy one of them and he has to choose which one. Boyd wants to grab Ellen May, but Ava is convinced that Ellen May won’t talk and says they have to take Thompson if they still want to have a future. When they say they are taking Thompson, Ellen May spits in Ava’s face, making her wonder if she made the right choice after all.
Boyd hands Thompson over to Colton to make the trade with Theo (why he’s trusting Colton is beyond us), but Colton makes good on his promise to Boyd and leaves him for the drop off point. Just as one of Theo’s men shows up in his helicopter to pick up Thompson, Raylan shows up (after getting a tip from Johnny) and Theo’s men fly off leaving Thompson behind in the Marshall’s custody. Now that the Thompson drop off went no where, Boyd and Ava are faced with the choice of trying to make a case to Theo or run.
