‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Firefly’ alum Summer Glau to fight again
If there is one thing that we learned about Summer Glau courtesy of her time on “Firefly” and the “Serenity,” it is that she can really fight with the best of them. With that in mind, doesn’t it seem appropriate that she would turn up in a rather hard-nosed episode of “Hawaii Five-0”?
Sources are confirming that the actress, who has a pretty awesome resume of kicking butt that also includes such shows as “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Chuck,” “Alphas,” “The Cape” (six seasons and a movie!), and “Dollhouse,” is set to appear in an upcoming season 3 episode of the CBS police drama, where she will be playing a woman who is searching for someone responsible for murdering her father. As for the twist, let’s just say that she will be doing so while also being involved in an underground fighting ring (It’s really amazing just how much crime goes on in Hawaii, according to this show … much in the same way that the town in “Murder, She Wrote” kept having people die.)
“Hawaii Five-0” is currently coming off of a little bit of a high courtesy of their airing following the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night, where they posted a season-high 3.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. With this football event being the second-most watched sporting event of the entire year on primetime television, it certainly made sense for CBS to go a little bit against the grain and air the show at a special time.
As for what else Glau has coming up, we’re merely hoping that she finally has an opportunity to find a series regular gig on a show that happens to last long enough to get a proper series finale. She’s sadly one of those thoroughly entertaining stars whose shows just never seem to capture much of a mainstream audience.

I’m very glad that Summer Glau is landing roles in non science fiction tv shows.
It’s true that she has build her reputation in iconic roles in sci-fi series such as Firefly or Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles, or her recent recurring role on Alphas. However, she’s a multi-faceted actress who has proven in the past that she can play a multitude of ages and she’s a talented actress who deserves recognition outside of the sci-fi niche.
