‘Justified’ season 4 spoilers: Details on the opening scene, new addition

“Justified” fans, the wait is almost over until the show returns to FX with all-new episodes; and in order to celebrate this glorious occasion, we have some brand-new scoop concerning Tuesday’s premiere in terms of the very first scene that we are going to see play out on the show.

This wonderful intel comes courtesy of executive producer Graham Yost, who explains to TVLine that his series is really going to waste no time at all setting up the mystery that will end up shaping the course of the rest of the season:

“It opens with a flashback to something that happened 30 years ago … There’s a guy out getting his paper in the morning in a town in Kentucky, and he goes [back] inside and he hears this whistling sound and a thump. He walks back outside and there’s a man dead in the street with a parachute billowing and a bag broken open with bricks of cocaine spilling out.”

So what will the mystery be here? According to Yost, Raylan will be spending a little bit of time trying to figure out just who this man was, and likely why he also had an illegal drug with him along with the parachute. It’s an interesting mystery, and we’re sure that it also is going to make for a pretty awesome visual.

In addition to this, Yost also told the website that Beth Grant (currently on “The Mindy Project”) is going to guest-star on an episode airing towards the end of the season as someone he refers to as “The Mother of Truth.” Sadly, we know little more beyond this.
