Ratings: Betty White dominates in repeats; ‘Parenthood’ season 4 so-so
Despite all of our constant criticism of NBC over airing a new episode of “Parenthood” season 4 on a holiday in New Year’s Eve, and with no new programming as a lead-in, the network has to be relatively pleased at the end of the day with its performance.
Surprisingly, the top program of the night was none other than “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.” In preparation for the launch of the show this month, the network aired four episodes back to back, with the one at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time peaking with a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. With repeat numbers like this, it bodes well for the return of the show proper … at least so long as it does not get completely overwhelmed be some new episodes of other shows.
As for “Parenthood,” the show was not hurt too much by college football or it being the holiday. The show ultimately drew a 1.7 rating, which is fairly solid all things considered. This really just goes to show above all else how devoted the show’s audience is, and also why NBC should seriously considering picking up the show for a season 5. At the moment, we are still pegging its odds as likely, mostly due to the fact that there is really so little when it comes to consisted serialized programming on the network. No matter what, the show seems to constantly hover around this rating regardless of whether or not there is competition.
Overall, what do you think about Betty’s dominance, and do you think that every show in the network’s lineup has a long future ahead of them? If you want to read our full review of the most-recent “Parenthood” season 4 episode, be sure to head on over to the link here.
