‘Psych’ season 8 a go; USA renews show before season 7 begins
Get your pineapples ready: “Psych” officially now has at least one more year left in the tank.
In what is a bit of surprising news given that the hit USA series has yet to even air a single episode of season 7 (which premieres on February 27), the network announced on Twitter this week that we are going to be seeing even more of Shawn and Gus for at least one more season. But will season 8 mark the end for the show? This is the primary question that we have at the moment, given that cable shows rarely last beyond eight seasons, and this is the lengthy that “Psych’s” former lead-in on USA in “Monk” lasted before coming to a close.
As for just what sort of goodness “Psych” still has left in the can, we are expecting to see Shawn and Juliet’s relationship progress a little bit more after James Roday’s character spent a good part of season 6 starting to think about marriage. In addition to that, we of course have to know the answer to whether or not Shawn’s dad Henry (Corbin Bernsen) ended up being killed in the closing minutes of his season by one of his former partners on the force.
“Psych” is at the moment the longest-running series on USA, which is in the process right now of trying to launch several new series while potentially ending others. “Common Law” and “Fairly Legal” were each canceled earlier this year, and “Necessary Roughness” was more or less renewed at the 11th hour.
Are you thrilled for more “Psych” goodness until at least 2014, and what sort of adventures do you think that Shawn and Gus should get into now before the series wraps? If you want to know some more scoop about the show’s upcoming musical episode, you can find out over here.
