‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’: New theories on Kim Zolciak’s departure from show

Kim Zolciak is one of the more popular characters on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, so why is she leaving the show that made her a household name? While there has been debate as to whether she left the show of her own accord or if she was fired (as implied by NeNe Leakes on her Twitter account) the only person that really knows the truth about the situation is Kim herself.

What we do know is that Zolciak’s exit from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 5 won’t be done on a sea of rainbows and kittens – expect fireworks and drama from the ladies.  Kim has said that her departure from the show was because of the drama, saying that it was too intense while she was 8 months pregnant and that the final straw was when she felt she had to turn down boarding a plane to go to Anguilla to watch costar Cynthia Bailey and her husband Peter Thomas renew their wedding vows. Kim felt she was too far along in her pregnancy to be flying, and said that her castmates didn’t understand.

NeNe posted a series of messages on Twitter about the situation, and while she didn’t name Kim, it was clear who she was talking about. She said that Kim was let go from the show, but Kim has since gone onto her Twitter account and denied any such firing from the show and instead said that she felt she’s gotten a promotion because of her spinoff series.

An insider has now spoken to US Weekly about what they say really happened when it comes to Kim’s departure from the show.  They claim that Kim had a “blowout” with the masterminds behind the Bravo series over her refusal to board the plane and that she decided not to finish the season.  They said; “Kim has a total blowout with production. Kim was furious! We don’t see much of Kim this season.”

Whatever Kim’s reason was for leaving the show, fans will definitely be missing her spark on the series, but she has said that she may return for season 6, so we can keep our fingers crossed for that.
